The Columbus City Utilities is committed to keeping our water supplies safe by keeping unnecessary pollutants from wastewater going into our lakes and rivers.
Columbus City Utilities is proud of its new wastewater treatment
facility. The new treatment plant utilizes the most recent technology including a headworks with fine
screening, grit removal, two new oxidation ditches, four
final clarifiers, a return activated sludge (RAS) pumping
station, UV effluent disinfection, a Cannibal Sludge
Reduction Process ™, aerobic solids handling tanks,
centrifuge biosolids dewatering, emergency power, odor
control, and an administration and maintenance building. The
design includes provisions for expansion and potential
nutrient removal process that may be needed to meet future
effluent treatment requirements. The plant was built with
low interest loans from the State Revolving Fund plus $4m
grant from the American Recovery and Revitalization Act.
